The 1996 Michigan Curriculum Framework provides a broad view of the Social Studies curriculum in our local school disticts.
The 2007 Michigan Department of Education K-8 Social Studies Grade Level Content Expectations (GLCEs) guide the content of the state-wide MEAP assessments and provide curriculum details for the classroom teacher.
The 2007 High School Social Studies Content Expectations guide the content of the required World History and Geography, United States History and Geography, Civics,and Economics courses and assist students in preparing for the Michigan Merit Examination(MME).
Each local school district has developed their Social Studies curriculum which corresponds to the Michigan Curriculum Framework, the Grade Level Content Expectations, and the High School Content Expectations.

Recent issues included historical information about Blaney Park; Flint, Billy Durant and the Beginning of General Motors; and Michiganders in the Civil War.
