English/Language Arts
General Education Services

The 1996 Michigan Curriculum Framework guides the English/language arts curriculum in our local school disticts. It consists of twelve reading, writing, speaking, listening, and viewing standards and benchmarks.

The 2004 Grade Level Content Expectations (GLCEs) guide the content of the state-wide MEAP assessments.

Each local school district has developed their English/language arts curriculum which corresponds to the Michigan Curriculum Framework and the Grade Level Content Expectations. The intermediate school district provides training in LETRS, MLPP K-3, and MLPP 4-6. In addition, our professional development library provides many resources for teachers and administrators.
